Sunday Morning Study

FaithLink: Connecting Life and Faith and Coffee

Sunday mornings at 11:15 AM

Are you concerned about how the Bible and faith speak to current events? Then join us in the parlor for FaithLink, a new discussion based class that will look at current events with faith and the Bible in mind. Each class will deal with a current topic and offer Bible passages and theology that link directly to that topic. Past topics have ranged from politics to the over use of antibiotics, and if there’s a major news event, you’re sure to discuss it at FaithLink!

Let Your Inner Rock Star Free

Calling all Rockers!  In the next couple weeks, the Mason Band will be re-forming to prepare music for our Good Friday and Easter Sunday services.  Music will include songs by David Crowder Band, Don Henle, and X Ambassadors.  Rehearsals will take place in the sanctuary on Sunday, March 26th, Sunday, April 2nd, and Sunday, April 9th from 12:30 - 1:30 pm.  Come to one or all three rehearsals as you are able.  Enthusiastic youth and adults of all ages are encouraged to participate!  Bring your guitar, drums, or just your rocking singing voices and prepare to have lots of fun!  Please send me an email at if you are interested in joining or have any questions.

Lenten Sunday School Study

Fear of the Other by Bishop Will Willimon

Tolerate one another...wait. Isn’t that supposed to be “Love one another?” It’s one thing to genuinely love people who are more or less the same as we are, but what about those who are not only strangers, but people who live completely different lives? Reliable spiritual guide Will Willimon invites you to look more closely at the gospel’s command to love—because to genuinely love those considered to be "Other" may be the hardest thing for people of faith to do.

Study begins March 5 at 11:15 AM.  Books will be available for $10 at the end of February.

Mason U is a spiritual formation opportunity for those wanting to go deeper. These studies will be more challenging than a typical Sunday morning study. They will look at Biblical and theological topics that will challenge participants to stretch their thinking.

Volunteer with FISH Food Bank

As you know, FISH Food bank operates one of their locations in Mason's Ernst Hall on Wednesday and Saturdays.  Did you also know that FISH depends on volunteers to help serve the hungry in our community -- AND -- that 6 different churches send volunteers to work at this food bank?  It's all true.

Mason needs volunteers to help with the dates that we're assigned.  If you're available for any of the following dates, please lend your time to this most worthy of causes.

  1. September 7th and 10th
  2. October 19th and 22nd
  3. November 30th and Dec 3rd
Please contact Lynn Stetson at or (253) 475-5300 for more information and to volunteer.

Chancel Choir

Do you enjoy singing?  Were you in choir in school and now you miss the comradery and joy singing used to bring?  Why not join the Mason United Methodist Chancel Choir?

The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings at 7:00 PM and before the weekly worship service.

If you are interested in joining the choir, please email Rachel and she will get you in touch with Collin, our music director.

The Calling Group

Every 4th Tuesday of the Month at 9:30 AM

Many single elders and homebound residents experience isolation and loneliness.  This can lead to a rapid decline in physical and mental health and can even increase the risk of dementia.  Many homebound residents also miss the community and spiritual fulfillment that the Sunday Worship Service provides.  In order to combat this, members of Mason United Methodist Church spend a day visiting homebound members and others who have requested a visit.

The group is open to anyone who is interested and available.  If this interests you, please email the church office and Rachel will get you in touch with the group leader.

United Methodist Women (UMW)

We equip women and girls to be leaders in communities, agencies, workplaces, governments and churches. We are organized for growth, with flexible structures leading to effective witness and action. We provide educational experiences that lead to personal change in order to transform the world. We work for justice through compassionate service and advocacy to change unfair policies and systems. We provide opportunities and resources to grow spiritually, become more deeply rooted in Christ and put faith into action.

And fun! We definitely have fun!

Meetings are monthly and as needed (before UMW events).

If you are interested in learning more or joining the United Methodist Women, please send an email to

United Methodist Men (UMM)

The General Commission on United Methodist Men (UMM) involves men in a growing relationship to Jesus Christ and his church and provides resources and support for programs of evangelism, stewardship and the needs of men.

Mason's UMM are fantastic cooks and grillers!  Their Pancakes are legendary.

It is rumored that they meet weekly at Knapps restaurant for breakfast.  If you'd like to learn more or join their ranks, please send an email to
