    MASON UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

United Methodist Women is a national membership organization with nearly one-million members whose purpose is to foster spiritual growth, develop leaders and advocate for justice! Members raise approximately $20 million a year for programs and projects related to women, children and youth in the United States and in more than 100 countries around the world!

    OUR MISSION

    • To build a supportive community among women
    • To be an advocate for the oppressed and dispossessed with special attention to the needs of women and children
    • To engage in activities that foster growth in the Christian faith, mission education, and Christian social involvement.

The total program of United Methodist Women is mission. This includes individual growth, spiritual enrichment, education for mission, social issues awareness, leadership development, schools and workshops, and financial support for mission programs and projects throughout the U.S. and around the world. True to our Wesleyan heritage, mission cannot be solely charity, but involves empowerment and advocacy for social change. By combining the two, we can be witnesses to the love and life of Jesus Christ.

    WOMEN AND MISSION

Since United Methodist Women's total program is mission, members are in mission with others in their own communities. For more than 135 years, they have been empowered by leadership education opportunities, mission education, the Reading Program, tools for advocacy and more. These opportunities allow women to act and advocate to empower women in the United States and abroad.

United Methodist Women also support programs and projects aimed at improving the special needs of women because of their refugee statuses, their immigration statuses, situations in which they are abused, their high illiteracy rate in some countries, their economic dependence, their educational disparities, and much more.
